INDUSTRIAL & MANUFACTURING

THERMAL IMAGING

Unplanned downtime on a production line costs more than the repair. IRIS PDM’s infrared inspections catch overheating motors, failing switchgear, and worn electrical connections before they take a line down.

TRUSTED ACROSS CANADIAN INDUSTRY

17,000+ inspections completed since 2001. Industrial clients include US Steel Canada, Redpath Sugar, West Fraser Timber, and SNC Lavalin O&M.

Who we serve

Food, chemical, and material processing plants combine heavy electrical load with strict uptime and safety requirements. Our inspections cover the motors, conveyors, and control systems that keep a processing line running without interruption.

Book Consultation

Motor starters, switchgear, and variable frequency drives run under continuous high load and develop thermal faults faster than most other facility types. We help maintenance teams catch developing issues before they cause production losses or fire events.

Book Consultation

Conveyor systems, loading dock equipment, and warehouse power distribution all see heavy cyclical use. A failed panel or motor at a distribution centre doesn’t just cost repair time — it backs up the whole supply chain behind it.

WHAT WE INSPECT

WHY MANUFACTURERS CHOOSE IRIS PDM

NO PRODUCTION STOPPAGE

Scans run on live, operating equipment — no need to shut down a line to inspect it.

BEYOND THERMOGRAPHY

We also offer vibration analysis, motor testing, and oil/fluids analysis, so your predictive maintenance program isn’t limited to one detection method.

BUILT FOR PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Reports are structured to plug directly into existing PM schedules, with risk ratings that help you prioritize what gets fixed first.

RESPONSIVE SCHEDULING

We work around your production schedule and shutdown windows. Priority service available for urgent situations.
How often should a manufacturing facility get a thermal imaging inspection?

Most facilities benefit from at least an annual inspection, with high-load or older equipment often scanned semi-annually or quarterly. We can help build a schedule around your existing preventive maintenance program.

Will this interrupt production?

No. Infrared thermography is performed on live, energized, operating equipment — there's no need to shut down a line for the scan.

What kind of failures does this actually catch?

Loose or corroded electrical connections, overloaded circuits, failing bearings and motors, and unbalanced electrical loads — all of which generate excess heat before they cause a full failure.

How is this different from a routine maintenance check?

Routine checks are typically visual or scheduled component replacement. Thermal imaging shows how equipment is performing under actual load in real time, catching problems that aren't visible until they've already failed.

Can this integrate with our existing predictive maintenance program?

Yes. Our reports are built to slot into existing PM schedules and CMMS systems, with clear risk ratings so findings can be prioritized alongside your other maintenance data.

Are your technicians qualified to work in industrial environments?

Yes. IRIS PDM technicians are certified thermographers and ESA-certified electrical contractors, with experience working safely in active industrial and manufacturing environments.

Do you serve facilities outside major cities?

Yes. IRIS PDM inspects manufacturing and industrial facilities across Ontario and Canada, with technicians available to travel to regional and remote sites.
